I recently gathered my courage and decided to really try to identify my vision. To try to figure out how my voice actually comes through in my images. Thanks to Kate Densmore and her amazing workshop, Voice and Visual Intent, I feel one step closer. Perhaps two. I learned more about myself as a photographer, and really as a person, than I thought possible. Now I see that I strive to capture my boys both as individuals and as brothers. Kate thinks that’s the middle child in me 😉 I photograph in the moment, working to document our life, my boys’ childhood, the innocence and wonder of it all.
Kate challenged us to start a personal project. So, here it is. 10 on 10. It’s pretty simple. 10 images posted on the 10th of each month. I take enough, now it’s just going to be whether or not I can blog them to share with you!
Colie James, another fabulous photographer that I had the honor of meeting through her workshop, Telling Stories with Lifestyle Photography, mentioned how fantastic the light in our little lane is. She’s more than right. When we bought the house, I had no idea what a little paradise of yummy light this road would be! During the summer and fall, no matter what direction I face, I die. The light is that good. I decided that my first installment had to be some of my favorite images shot there, mainly while walking to get our mail. Some of these images are new, some you’ve seen before. I’m not sorry if you already have because I love them 😉
It’s always an adventure, it always takes longer than necessary, and I always love every moment. Well, almost. Trying to talk Connor into heading home is often a challenge…
