Powell Wy Newborn Photographer | While the focus of a newborn session is quite obvious, there is so much more to the story. There should images that showcase the family as a whole. They should show the connection between Mom and Dad, how the older brothers are adjusting to their new angel, even about how the dog blends in with the whole clan.
That being said, the new babe is the rock star. My focus is on capturing the little details that change so quickly. The eyelashes, the dimples, the squishy cheeks and little noses. Everything that you don’t want to forget but somehow, sadly, do. Unless you were quick enough to break out your camera to document them.
I was lucky enough to have a brave mama invite me into their home, that they’d just moved into, to spend time with her new family of 5. She worried that they weren’t unpacked completely, (I dare you to notice that 😉 ) She was worried that her 2 older boys wouldn’t warm up to me, or would be too rambunctious, or would want to have nothing to do with the camera. She was worried about the timing. She shouldn’t have worried about a thing.
When I arrived at the house, Mom wasn’t quite ready, so I hung out with the boys while she finished up and got to know them. By the time sister made her debut, they were ready to hold her and love on her, all while smiling at me. After they tired of that, we ventured into bedrooms where we played, read books, and snuggled on baby some more.
We wrapped up the session in the master bedroom, which was to die for, where we were able to focus on Mom and Dad and their darling girl. It was perfect timing that some family showed up to play with the boys at the moment we headed to the bedroom.
This session was just perfect. The boys love and are so gentle with their sister. It’s going to be exciting to watch them care for her as they all grow up. I have a feeling this isn’t the last babe to join the this beautiful family, though!
